Baby Shower Gift

I was invited to a baby shower a few weeks ago, and while I absolutely hate going to these things, I thought it would be a perfect idea to make a diaper cake!  This was only my second attempt at making them, so I was psyched about giving it another try!  I've also been seeing a lot of tutorials on Pinterest for these no sew hand made blankets, and have been dying to give that a try!  I made my way over to Walmart, grabbed some diapers, fabric, and ribbon and put myself to work!  Since I really wanted to try to make it a little more personal, I snagged the monkey, and wash cloths off her registry to complete the look.  The hardest part was trying to get the monkey to stay put!  The blanket was super fun to make and I am currently looking for an excuse to make another one!  Anyways, I folded the blanket under the diaper cake, wrapped it up in clear plastic wrap, tied a bow (which I totally suck at), and attached the card to the bow.  It was a pretty big hit at the shower!

Just some doods

Here are a few illustrations I recently did.  I actually drew these characters a few years ago, but like with many of the illustration I do, I draw them, save them away to my computer, and completely forget about them!  I dug these little guys out and threw a background behind them!  The first one you can find on my Society 6 Store!

My Society 6 Store is now open for business!

That's right!  I finally got around to opening up my very own Society 6 Store!  I am going to be regularly adding new stuff, so keep on coming back!

Trip down memory lane!

I was going through some of my old files on my computer and came across these old drawings that I did when I was in college.  I wanted to post these because these are still some of my most memorable illustrations as of today!

Children's book work!

Here are a few sketches I did a few months ago for a children's book.  The author ended up not liking these, so now I am posting them here!  They are a little different than my other stuff, and I'm not sure if the changes in my style is a good thing or a bad.  Regardless, I do like how these sketches came out.  After sketching them I brought them into Illustrator to make vector drawings.  I was really trying to experiment with the paint brush tools, something I've never done before.  It was kinda a pain in the butt, and a little frustrating because I don't fully understand the paint brush tools, but the outcome is a lot better than just drawing shapes with the pen tool and filling them in with color.  I want to experiment more with this technique in the future!  I also want to experiment again with making patterns in Illustrator...something I've always struggled with in the past.  Enjoy!

Mr. Bear and his side kick, Zack!

You might remember my bear sketch from my post before this one.  I finally got the chance to bring this into Illustrator to make a vector illustration of it.  I'm still in the process of illustrating the other sketches in that post, but for now, here is Mr. Bear, and his side kick, Zack (I totally just made up those names a second ago).
