Trip down memory lane!

I was going through some of my old files on my computer and came across these old drawings that I did when I was in college.  I wanted to post these because these are still some of my most memorable illustrations as of today!

Children's book work!

Here are a few sketches I did a few months ago for a children's book.  The author ended up not liking these, so now I am posting them here!  They are a little different than my other stuff, and I'm not sure if the changes in my style is a good thing or a bad.  Regardless, I do like how these sketches came out.  After sketching them I brought them into Illustrator to make vector drawings.  I was really trying to experiment with the paint brush tools, something I've never done before.  It was kinda a pain in the butt, and a little frustrating because I don't fully understand the paint brush tools, but the outcome is a lot better than just drawing shapes with the pen tool and filling them in with color.  I want to experiment more with this technique in the future!  I also want to experiment again with making patterns in Illustrator...something I've always struggled with in the past.  Enjoy!

Mr. Bear and his side kick, Zack!

You might remember my bear sketch from my post before this one.  I finally got the chance to bring this into Illustrator to make a vector illustration of it.  I'm still in the process of illustrating the other sketches in that post, but for now, here is Mr. Bear, and his side kick, Zack (I totally just made up those names a second ago).

Just some drawings...

I know it's been awhile since I last posted, and I would like to say that was do to the fact that my life is just so exciting and filled with fun things, but the reality is that I'm just lazy.  After having a very depressing weekend which involved going to two different wakes, I decided to try to cheer myself up by sitting in front of the tv in my comfy pants watching episodes of Snooki and Jwow with my sketchbook in hand.  For some strange reason, watching that show always does a good job of making me feel better about myself.  Here are some of my drawings I did while watching it.  I am still in the process of making vector illustrations of these drawings in Illustrator, but for now, here are just my sketches.  Hopefully I'll get my vector illustrations up within a few days...

I would also like to say that I have a few exciting projects in the works, so stay tuned!

Giraffe

My husband's friend just had a baby.  He's actually the friend that introduced me to my husband 10 years ago.  I went to Pratt with him, and once I started dating my husband, I also became good friends with his girlfriend (his now wife).  The four of us have remained really good friends over the past 10 years.  Anyhoo, he's now an architect and has always had an appreciation for art and has always taken an interest in my work.  I decided that I wanted to make them something for their baby's room.  Unfortunately, since my husband hates my art work, this will never make it's way to them.  Instead it will probably just sit on my desk collecting dust and it will most likely end up in the garbage in 6 months.

Just a sad little girl

Here is an illustration I did while watching old re-runs of 'How I Met Your Mother'.
