Crazy hair girl

I feel like recently I've been on a creative art spree!  Here's a little illustration I drew while watching tv tonight.  I've always wanted to do something crazy like this to my hair, but I always chicken out.  Maybe someday...

I'm not too crazy about the paper I used for this illustration.  I drew it in an old sketch book from a few years ago that I realized was only half filled.  I now realize why I never finished drawing in it.  I really don't like the paper!  It has sort of a rough texture to it, which is something I liked back in the day, but now I prefer smoother paper.

Gennaro's 2nd birthday

My little cousin, Gennaro, just turned 2 and his birthday party is this weekend.  I wanted to make him something that he could actually play with and since I know he goes to the beach a lot, I thought this would be a cute idea!  I went to Amazing Savings and got these two sand buckets and filled them with cute little beach toys...a few shovels, some bubbles, a water gun, a beach ball, and some swimming tubes!  Then when I got home, I painted the outsides of the buckets with his name on one side, and a beach and water scene on the other using oil paint pens.  I really like painting things like this, but I don't get to do it that often, as I only know a handful of kids, and this really isn't an appropriate gift for an adult.  When it was all finished I got a little fancy.  I wrapped it up in some clear cello wrapping paper, and tied some red ribbon around it.  I hope this makes him smile!

Happy Birthday Kayla!

This is a painting I made for Kayla.  She is my newest little cousin.  Her first birthday party is next weekend and I painted this canvas for her room!  I haven't painted like this on a canvas with acrylic paint in a long time and it felt great to be able to do this again!  Happy first birthday Kayla!

Beach Day!

Ok so today was wayyyy to hot to be a beach day (day 3 of a heat wave), but I drew this scene thinking how nice it'd be if I were laying on a beach right now!  Right now it's a color pencil sketch, but there's a possibility that I might bring it into Illustrator and make it into a digital illustration.

Wedding programs and Professional pics! (a little late)

Ok so do you remember this post?  I posted a bunch of my wedding projects and also mentioned that I designed wedding programs that I ended up not even using at my wedding.  Well I finally got around to scanning it so I can post it here!

I still wanted to post it, even though it's a little late, because I really like how it came out!  It's not your typical folded in half wedding program.  It matched my invites, response cards, and table name cards!  I wish I had the extra time to make these so I could have used them, but I just didn't!  I don't regret not using them for my wedding, as I said in my original post, most people just leave them at the ceremony site anyway, but I am glad I made them!

Also I did get my professional pics back and wanted to post a few that were taken of my hard work!

Octopus

This was a character that I drew a while ago.  I found it while going through some of my old files on my computer.  I decided to finish it up by giving it a background.  I tried so hard to make the background as a pattern, but I still find patterns and repeats in Illustrator a little difficult.  I'm still going to experiment and hopefully soon I'll be able to master patterns and repeats!

Sunrise Jelly Fish!

This is a quick illustration I did in Illustrator.  I intended the background to be a blue sky, but when choosing my color, I clicked on yellow by mistake, and it reminded me so much of a sunrise that I decided I'd keep it the way it was!  Just a jelly fish enjoying the morning sunrise!
