Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

So I'm well aware that I am almost a week behind in posting my Christmas doodle, but I still wanted to post this before the year ended!  I actually did this weeks ago during some down time at work, but just got around to scanning it and posting it today.  I've been super distracted and unmotivated lately due to reasons I will explain in a future post, but for now here is my last post of 2014!  I had a pretty descent year, and looking forward to a very exciting 2015!  More to come!

Bah Humbug

I apologize for not posting, but I've been extremely unmotivated lately.  For those of you who know me, know that I despise this time of year.  In fact, I fucking hate it.  There are many reasons why I hate this time of year...a mess of Christmas decorations everywhere, god awful Christmas music playing in every store, horrible traffic, a depleted bank account, and a pile of useless christmas gifts that I will most likely either throw away or donate to charity.  So to celebrate my hatred of this holiday, here is my little holiday doodle...

Happy Birthday Lily!

Here are some characters I drew in my sketch book.

I ended up turning these little animal doods into a birthday card for my little cousin Lily.

Halloween Week!

Happy Halloween week!  I know I haven't been posting a ton on here, but I can guarantee you that I've been slowly filling up my sketch book!  If you've been following me on instagram, you will find that I sometimes post art on there that I don't post on my blog.  Anyways, as I wrote in my previous post, I have been super inspired by Tim Burton's 'Nightmare Before Christmas', and decided to make a little doodle of Jack.  I'm all ready for Halloween!  Now I'm just hoping I don't eat the entire bag of Reese's Peanut Butter cups that I bought for our trick-or-treaters!

Painted Pumpkins!

Fall is probably my favorite season.  I love the weather, I love the fashion, I love Halloween, and I love painting pumpkins!  I only painted one this year, as opposed to the two I painted last year, but this year I got a little bigger of a pumpkin and painted both sides.  If you couldn't tell, they are inspired by Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas.  I have always been a huge fan of Tim Burton's work, and couldn't think of a better time of year to be inspired by him.

And if you can see in the last picture above, I also have a hand painted mail box.  I painted this years ago, but I don't think I ever showcased it on this blog.  I had found an old, white, flower covered mail box, and not wanting to pass up an opportunity to be creative, I did what any girl would have done...I painted skulls on it!  I've had this mail box on my house for about 4-5 years now, so it might look a little dirty in the close up below, but I still wanted to post it.

Free Shipping!

Sorry it's been a while since I posted anything.  I was on vacation for a week, then I was sick for two weeks, but things are slowly getting back to normal here and I will be posting new festive work soon!

In the meantime, you can receive free shipping from my Society 6 store from now until Oct. 12 using this link.  I don't have anything new on there now, but I am hoping to get some new work posted soon!

Happy October!

Deano

Here's a pencil drawing I did of Deano.  In the past when I normally drew a pencil drawing, I always used the grid method.  However, this is my first drawing I did totally freehand.  I'm fairly happy with how it came out, however you can totally see my week spots (nose and ear?) but I'm definitely going to continue these drawings in the future without using the grid method.

Happy Birthday Mackenzie!

Here is a painting I recently made for my cousin Mackenzie's first birthday.  I made a painting for her sister Kayla a couple years ago, and I wanted to do the same for her.  Happy first birthday Mackenzie!

Hello Lady T-shirt Design Contest!

Well, it's that time of year again...the annual Hello Lady t-shirt design contest that benefits breast cancer awareness!  I participated in this last year, and even though I didn't win, I enjoyed being a part of it and wanted to do it again!  They announce the winners sometime around August 22nd, so keep your fingers crossed!

A heart for you.

After going through some of my old Sam Brown books, I was inspired to doodle up some simple stick figures.  Here's one for now.  I will be posting more of these soon.

A heart for you.

Just a little sketch of me and my husband.  Because we all know I hate real life pictures.

Daniel Bryan

Just a little illustration of Daniel Bryan.  He is currently my favorite WWE wrestler.  He had neck surgery a few weeks ago so he hasn't been around much.  Last week, The Authority took his belt away from him, and this kinda made me angry.  I really hope he comes back soon.  WWE just isn't the same without him.  Yes! Yes! Yes!

June 14th

Lately, I have been inspired by the art of Ashley Barlow.  Every day she posts an illustration of the date.  I thought this was a cute idea, and decided to give it a try.  I am not going to illustrate every day like she is, but now and then I'll give it another go.

A Step Stool For Xavier

A few month's ago I was asked to be a godmother to my cousin, Xavier.  The Christening was last Sunday, and since I know his mother loves hand painted items, I made him this step stool!  It is something he could easily grow into and use as a decoration for his room!  I got the step stool at Target and used my oil based paint pens for the design.  When it was all done, I wrapped it up in clear wrap.  I meant to take a picture of it all wrapped up, but I completely forgot!

Un-retouched Art!

As most of you know, in my real life I am a photo retoucher.  I retouch image upon image every day, all day for a large ecommerce fashion website.  Even though I love to doodle, before I post anything I usually give it a quick retouch in photoshop.  I normally would make the background completely white, and clean up any eraser marks/mistakes that are visible, and liquify anything that is crooked.  Today I decided to scan and upload a typical page in my sketch book, completely un-retouched!  For a change I wanted everyone to see my real art.  (Yes, Gemma Correll was my inspiration for the pug drawings!)

RIP Ultimate Warrior

RIP Ultimate Warrior.

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat, his lungs breathe their final breath and if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit will be immortalised."

You were one crazy mofo, but a true childhood icon.  Wrestlemania 6 was the first Wrestlemania I ever saw when you beat Hulk Hogan to win the title.  It was from that moment on that I became a true wrestling fan.  Thank you for all the memories and I'm glad I was able to see you one last time at Wrestlemania 30.

Wrestlemania 30!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE WWE fan!  I loved it since the early 90's.  My dad was a fan, my brother was a fan, so it was only natural that I would also develop a love for it.  On any given Monday night during the 90's, it was almost a guarantee that you could find us all glued to the tv.  As we watched Monday Night Raw, my brother and I would be in our footed pajamas putting the sharp shooter and choke holds on each other, while getting yelled at by our mom.  Not much has changed since then.  I ended up marrying someone who is an even bigger wrestling fan than I am, and now on Monday nights you could find my husband and I glued to the tv watching Raw while putting the sharp shooter and choke holds on each other.

In anticipation of Wrestlemania 30, which airs tonight,  I spent the past few weeks sketching some of my favorite wrestlers of all time!  I do plan on doing another round of sketches of my current favorite WWE superstars, but  for now, enjoy this trip down memory lane!

Three

This is a painting I originally did for an album cover of a local band.  Long story short, it was never used, so I decided just to turn it into an illustration.

Always throw away the first pancake.

Always throw away the first pancake.

Meaning: if you allow yourself to make mistakes, your future attempts will be great!

I heard this quote for the first time on the radio one morning.  I thought it was a pretty cool quote and I quickly doodled it on a piece of notebook paper during my lunch break.

Then I thought there was a chance it might look good as a painting, so I gave it a shot.

This is my first attempt at creating a type painting.  I have always had a love of type, so combining that with my love of painting was something I always wanted to try.  I will be doing more of these in the future (hopefully)!

I effin' love avocados!

It's true.  In an attempt to become healthier, I've be making my own 'green' smoothies for breakfast every morning.  While experimenting with different fruits and veggies, I've come to discover this amazing fruit!  I've been eating it every single day!  Not only is it delicious but it's also full of nutrients that keeps you full and satisfied throughout the day!  In fact, when I'm not eating it, I'm thinking about it, and when I sleep I'm dreaming about it.  So here is my daily doodle to confess my love of avocados!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Here is my Valentine's Day doodle.  I scanned some newspaper in as the background and I'm kinda liking the texture it adds to this illustration!

Sketch book doodles!

It's been awhile since I last posted on here.  Since my last post, I decided that I was going to re-design my entire portfolio website.  I deactivated my old site, bought a brandy new domain name, and am currently hard at work designing a brand new site with brand new work!  I was set back a little bit because I am designing my new site in Dreamweaver, a program I have never used before, so I was a little confused and have been watching countless youtube tutorials.  Hopefully it won't be too much longer until I can share the new site with you all!  I am also designing some new work for my Society 6 store.  In the meantime, here are a few doodles I'd like to share from my sketch book.
