I was invited to a baby shower a few weeks ago, and while I absolutely hate going to these things, I thought it would be a perfect idea to make a diaper cake! This was only my second attempt at making them, so I was psyched about giving it another try! I've also been seeing a lot of tutorials on Pinterest for these no sew hand made blankets, and have been dying to give that a try! I made my way over to Walmart, grabbed some diapers, fabric, and ribbon and put myself to work! Since I really wanted to try to make it a little more personal, I snagged the monkey, and wash cloths off her registry to complete the look. The hardest part was trying to get the monkey to stay put! The blanket was super fun to make and I am currently looking for an excuse to make another one! Anyways, I folded the blanket under the diaper cake, wrapped it up in clear plastic wrap, tied a bow (which I totally suck at), and attached the card to the bow. It was a pretty big hit at the shower!

Happy Valentines Day!
I know I haven't had much luck in the stuffed animal department in the past, but I figured I'd give it one more try. Instead of trying to make these intricate stuffed animals, I took a step back and tried something a little more simple. Since Valentine's day was coming up I went with a basic heart shaped pillow. I hand sewed this instead of using the machine. Not that bad. Not that good either. It's a little crooked in parts, and the heart in the middle doesn't match up exactly with the bigger heart. Over all, I am happy with this and hope to master this soon. I know this pillow isn't in Valentine's Day colors, but that is only because I still had a bunch of these blue fabrics left over and I didn't feel like going out and buying new fabric. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Wedding Garter!
I got an awesome sewing machine for Christmas that I haven't been able to step away from since! It's a Bernette 12. It's a beginners sewing machine, which is perfect for me since I have very little experience using them. I've been so busy playing around with it and experimenting with different stitches, patterns, and fabric, that I really haven't been doing much else! I just finished my hand made wedding invitations (which I will be posting after I mail them out so no one seems them before hand), and figured my wedding garter would be next! After doing a lot of research, and frequenting youtube tutorials, this is what I came up with! I wanted to stay away from the typical "something blue" (that is just not me), so I figured I'd make it in my wedding colors, which are black and red. I did two different ones, and I'm not yet sure which one I am going to wear!
